The preschool programs are based on individual readiness and maturity in all developmental areas. The classroom is divided into a series of permanent learning centers, including large and small blocks, dramatic play, art, science, puzzles, small manipulative and the circle-time/library area. In the younger room, children are allowed to choose from any of the activities that have been prepared by the teaching staff, while those nearing graduation to kindergarten are expected to complete all activities planned.
Children are encouraged to do their own problem solving with support and guidance from the teachers. The teachers provide a mix of both facilitated and child initiated activities each day. This program incorporates topics of special interest to the children enrolled, and is flexible to take advantage of learning opportunities that arise naturally in the classroom. Ongoing written assessments are used to devlop weekly and monthly goals, with opportunities provided for parents to discuss the results with their child's teacher.
